British Airways Confirms First A 380 Routes

British Airways announces Hollywood as the inaugural destination for the first Airbus A 380. The superjumbo jet is to be delivered to British Airways in July 2013 with tickets on sale for flights from 15 October 2013. The second route for Airbus A 380 will be to Hong Kong and seats are now on sale for travelling from 15 November 2013.

Airbus A 380 is the biggest aircraft in the British Airways fleet with a four-class configuration and a seating capacity of 469. The airline has ordered 12 aircrafts which are due on delivery by 2016 as a part of the 5 billion (pounds) investment.

The arrival of the superjumbo jet has necessitated a multi-million dollar redevelopment to the London Heathrow. This includes a 24-tonne roof being lifted into place in one of the hangars to raise the height of the entrance to accommodate the world’s largest commercial aircraft.

Customers in the First will be seated at the front of the main deck. Business Class (Club World) passengers can select from 44 seats on the main deck or 53 seats on the upper deck. Premier Economy (World Traveller Plus) offers 55 seats, which are located on the upper deck. The Economy Class (World Traveller) have the choice of selecting seats on both the main and upper deck.
