Kite Mecca at Sydney’s Festival of The Winds

One of the most popular festivals in the Sydney event calendar is the Festival of the Winds. Running for over three decades, professional kite flyers, kite lovers, enthusiasts from all over the country packed the famous Bondi Beach in Sydney. Along with the entries from the members of the Society, there were designs from Malaysia, Japan, China and India.

The colourful creations are breathtaking and awe-inspiring to throngs of visitors. The most striking feature of the festival was the kite of the humpback whale. Almost actual to its size, the whale kite dominated the entire sky with stunned spectators, surfers and sunbathers. The gigantic kite was one of the most impressive entries in 2012 at the kite extravaganza.

The sky above the Bondi Beach displayed a plethora of colourful creations from animals, cartoons, flowers to teddy bears, fighter box, mantra rays and big cats. The dazzling showcase was indeed an amazing event!

The glorious blue skies, uninterrupted sunshine and the abundant entertainment programs provided company to the spectators. There were kite-flying demonstrations, Chinese Lion Dance and Kung Fu acrobatic display, international music concerts, global cuisines tours, free dance workshops, puppet shows, glassblowing, art expiation that celebrated the vibrant birdlife of Bondi and aboriginal cultural shows.
